Elmer

Meet Elmer, our sweet and gentle 2-year-old Great Pyrenees currently weighing in at 81 pounds. Elmer is a calm, affectionate soul who is slowly blossoming as he adjusts to life in a loving home. We don’t know much about his past, but since becoming a foster pup, he’s been nothing but a joy to have around.

Elmer is potty trained on a regular schedule and has only had one accident—on his very first day with us. Since then, he’s done great and continues to thrive with routine and gentle guidance.

He’s also doing really well with leash walking. Though he gets a little excited at the beginning of walks, a quick, gentle reminder is all it takes for him to settle in. Once he's in the groove, he truly enjoys his time outside, sniffing around the yard and taking in the world at his own pace.

As Elmer comes out of his shell, he’s becoming more playful each day. He’s especially happy when he’s around people—he loves being pet, laying near his humans, and simply enjoying your presence. Elmer is also great with kids, always happy to get attention and affection from them.

He’s shown to be respectful and curious around other dogs and cats, though he hasn’t yet tried to play with them. He’s still figuring out how to “dog,” but every day brings new signs of confidence and comfort.

Crate training is going well—he may whine a little when first going in, but he settles down within a few minutes. He also does just fine roaming around the house, especially when people are home. During the day and at night, he’s content to curl up and nap when the house is quiet.

Elmer is beginning to learn about treats and other fun parts of being a beloved pet. He’s a gentle companion who wants nothing more than to be close to people. While he can be a little nervous with loud noises, he quickly calms down when he knows a trusted human is nearby.

Elmer would do best in a calm, patient home where he has people around him who can give him the love and stability he’s learning to trust. He’s a wonderful dog with a sweet temperament, and he’s ready to find his forever family.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion to share quiet moments and gentle walks with, Elmer might just be your perfect match.
